KNSJ 89.1 FM Celebrates Community Radio in San Diego; Broadcasts “Democracy Now!” and “Thom Hartmann”

SAN DIEGO – KNSJ Radio invites the San Diego community to the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Saturday, Aug. 3 from 6pm – 9pm for a Radio Launch Party to celebrate the launch of a community radio station in San Diego and to raise funds to keep KNSJ 89.1 FM on the air. Tickets are $25 (2 for $40) in advance until Aug. 1 and can be purchased at

Former CA Assemblywoman and Sierra Club President Lori Saldana will serve as the keynote speaker.  Guests will enjoy food, wine and beer tasting from local vendors, Native American flute players, museum exhibits, sunset watching and star-gazing from the expansive outdoor terrace overlooking the park, plus a live multi-media musical performance by RICARDO BEAS, whose music is currently featured on 89.1 FM and can be downloaded at  KNSJ will also be presenting “Golden Mic Awards” to hard working leaders and activists representing the many voices in the San Diego County border-region community.

KNSJ programming will be a mix of local and nationally produced shows.  Still in their testing phase, KNSJ is already serving San Diego with a Monday through Friday broadcast of the popular national shows “Democracy Now!” at 7am and 6pm, and the “Thom Hartmann Show” from Noon to 3pm.  Locally produced content can be heard from East County Magazine and Unrestricted Airspace Monday through Friday at 9am and 5pm.
