Amy Goodman is the executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing around the world, with millions accessing it online. KNSJ, your San Diego independent community station, is proud to host Amy Goodman, a journalist in the tradition of muckrakers, unafraid to dig into today’s news. Democracy Now! presents news with more than sound bites, delving into the background so that you will know the whole story. In addition to exclusive interviews with experts and world leaders, Goodman interviews people at the grassroots level so that we can understand how they are personally impacted by what is happening around them. Often these voices are not heard on mainstream media. Additionally, Goodman is one of a few American women journalists known worldwide.
Goodman will be introduced by Denis Moynihan who has been working with Democracy Now! Since 2000. He is a bestselling author and a King Features syndicated columnist.
Broadcast media is part of the fourth estate, the watchdog on which a democracy exists. KNSJ joins with its brothers and sisters in speaking out that journalists not be suppressed, censored or denied access to leaders and events. To allow such censorship will particularly affect grassroots voices ultimately destroying a democracy. KNSJ carries other unique thought-provoking programs not heard on other San Diego stations.
