Thousands came to Santee to march for Black Lives on June 7, 2020. It is part of the marches for black lives triggered by the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis former police officer. The march was organized by San Diego Unity and endorsed by Black Lives Matter San Diego. The ranks were filled with Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians, Pacific Islanders, and others. It included the span of ages, from the very young, to Gen Z, Gen X, Millennials, all the way to the elderly. It was a cross over of multiple communities in San Diego county. And yes, it included a good portion of Santee residents, as well as people supporting them on the side. Clergy also marched with them.
